The Boston Globe is looking for an experienced medical-biotechnology editor to lead an expanded team covering one of the world’s most vibrant and respected healthcare communities. This editor would be responsible for coverage of everything from the city’s teaching hospitals to the biotechnology boom in Cambridge’s Kendall Square to state and national healthcare policy as well as personal health and medical trends. Medical and biotech news in Boston often has national or even international impact, and the Globe needs a team leader who understands the science, the business and the context of medical and biotech developments while never losing sight of the people most affected by them.
This editor would manage a team of about six reporters who will generate a steady stream of stories ranging from breaking dailies to features and accountability stories developed over longer time periods. The editor will also be responsible for producing a weekly special section devoted to medicine and biotechnology.
