About the role:

STAT’s business team is growing and we’re seeking a deliberate, analytical, and collaborative Email Marketer to manage and support the growth of STAT’s subscription business. The ecosystem of marketing messages surfaced through STAT products is critically important in guiding the customer journey and the Email Marketing Manager will establish engaging marketing campaigns to meet the goals of our fast-growing subscription business. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Consumer Revenue, this newly minted position will manage the engagement, acquisition, lead generation, community growth, and retention email strategies, with a focus on turning readers into subscribers and subscriber retention. This individual will be comfortable devising and managing iterative tests and are fluent in channel best practices as well as the technology that supports each channel (digital, audio and email). They are curious, have a transformative mindset and identify gaps, designing creative solutions through the use of data and insights.

  • With an emphasis on email, develop high impact, multi-channel media campaigns programs to support the full-funnel needs of our subscription products.
  • Establish messaging hierarchy, targeting priorities, flighting, and the plan for measurement across all email campaigns.
  • Harness past insights and research to develop POVs and provide expertise to the immediate and broader team to help push forward strategy for our in-house media campaigns.
  • Establish a culture of iterative testing to improve email performance and drive subscription acquisition, lifecycle retention and upselling programs.
  • Leverage the incredible STAT+ journalism to curate engagement email campaigns, driving readers to engage with subscriber-only journalism, and subscribers to engage more frequently with STAT+ stories. 
  • Gather and identify ongoing customer feedback themes to improve upon paid marketing copy and content and to test audience responsiveness to added value propositions.
  • Manage the email launch of new and existing products, including e-books, reports, data-solutions, and editorial packages. 
  • Ability to develop email marketing roadmaps, performance models, and forecasting for improved conversions and retention. 
  • Oversee all aspects of campaign performance, from measurement of campaign targets and trends to assessing the broader organizational impact.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing Designer  to develop best-in-class email templates, series, onboarding campaigns, and trigger campaigns that match the quality of STAT’s journalism.,

 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+  years of experience establishing and deploying email marketing strategies to engage and understand audiences in a marketing context
  • Prior experience in acquisition, performance marketing, and/or media planning role with a track record of using data-driven methods to inform digital strategy and segmentation.
  • Preferred experience in Hubspot, Mailchimp, Adobe Omniture, or similar ESPs and analytics systems.
  • Experience with campaign creation, tracking, tagging, testing, and marketing analytics across platforms.
  • Experience managing multiple platforms, campaigns, and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with Hubspot and Mailchimp preferred. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple short and long-term projects simultaneously, communicating deliverable timelines across teams.
  • Highly self-motivated and effective time management skills.
