Job Description:
The Boston Globe is looking for a creative and energetic editor to help identify, edit, and shepherd investigations for the Spotlight unit.
This person will serve as deputy to the Spotlight editor and will directly oversee several reporters dedicated to quick-strike investigations – a team that recently won the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting. The aim is to be nimble and ready to bring an accountability lens to big stories of the moment, while also adept at spotting and shepherding work that merits a long-term project treatment.
The deputy editor should have leadership skills and a track record of high impact accountability work. This person should have an excellent ability to visualize stories and guide reporters through various minefields, including fights over public records, data analyses, and more. We are looking for someone that’s highly collaborative and has a deft editing hand, as well as a deep understanding of digital media across platforms. They also will be responsible for helping foster an accountability mindset and investigative ethos throughout the newsroom.
This position is part of an expansion of the Globe’s storied Spotlight unit.
