Boston.com - Real Estate Intern
Job Description:
Boston.com, one of the most-read digital media outlets in the region, is looking for a college junior or senior to join our team for a part-time internship focused on real estate journalism.
Qualified candidates are highly collaborative student journalists who are interested in obtaining versatile experience at a digital media outlet. Our newsroom publishes fast, local, useful content for people who are primarily reading on their phones.
The Boston.com Real Estate intern will work approximately 20 hours weekly from July 2023 through December 2023.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring various sources of news and information, flagging updates, and pitching to editors.
- Reporting and writing copy with a meticulous attention to detail, especially as it relates to sourcing and accuracy.
- Publishing content from third parties and wire sources (Associated Press, New York Times News Service, etc.) inline with site standards.
- Helping to prepare engaging content and galleries using curated Boston Globe real estate content.
- Pitching and assisting with audience-engagement events such as webinars and livestreams.
- Sharing your content across our various social media channels, tapping into the conversation of the day with pertinent copy and local knowledge.
Qualifications:
- You are a college student studying journalism.
- You have previous experience at a media outlet.
- You have an enthusiasm for digital journalism and an eagerness to learn; on-the-job training and access to professional development opportunities are provided throughout the co-op program.
- A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
This position is a union position covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the Boston Newspaper Guild. It is a paid position.
