Job Description

This is a newly created role within Boston Globe Media Partners. We are seeking an experienced individual to head up the Globe’s expansion into television and radio. This role will dual report to the newsroom and business side.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, direct and oversee planning and production of a 5-day-a-week video news program, consisting of multiple segments, that you will help create and shape
  • Manage, direct and oversee engagement with the Globe production team, and Globe newsroom: all Globe reporters/columnists/editors, studio talent on all matters relating to the production of the show
  • Responsible for exercising independent judgment in determining story placement, teases, graphics, writing, timing and all other editorial and production elements 
  • Attend relevant newsroom meetings and meet with newsroom frequently to mine stories, selects items that would best translate to TV show format and audience

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Producer or Showrunner for a news or segment-based TV product
  • Experience in managing and directing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Exposure to, or experience in, research and development for stories, either print/digital news-based or in other formats
  • History working in or with a newsroom or story creators as content partners
  • Metabolism and experience producing a large amount of content at one time, thinking three dimensionally about banked and daily content
  • Bachelors’ and/or Master’s Degree in Journalism, Communication and/or TV Production desired, or equivalent work experience
  • A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
